As an industry we try to create/design projects for our clients that stand out and above the noise. The same mentality is (should be) used in getting a job. Individually, we are a brand and our resume, portfolio site, cover letter or promotional leave behind need to stand out into order to give a positive first impression to a potential employer. Here is an example of thinking outside of the box with your resume.
The tabloid-size visual resume combines elements of a cover letter, a resume and a sort of biography/informative about the designer, Chad Gilliland. Chad is a designer for the world's largest high-performance speed shops. He designs the promotional material such as clothing, logos, emails, banner ads, print ads and multiple catalog layouts.
That looks awesome, especially for the left side. I'll include it on this archive as well http://www.vizualresume.com/archive
