Now there is a post-graduate school with a focus on digital arts and sciences. The new school, Boulder Digital Works, based in Boulder, CO is a partnership of MDC Partners (holding company of such agencies as Crispin, Porter + Bogusky, Colle+McVoy, mono and zig) and the University of Colorado at Boulder as a part of the University of Colorado Extension Division.
The new school will offer a multi-disciplinary, project-based learning program designed to provide the skills needed by future digital leaders and entrepreneurs. Sweden's Hyper Island, one of the most highly regarded digital learning programs in Europe, will be a partner in the program providing exchange programs.
Boulder Digital Works offers a 60-week Certificate Program in Digital Arts and Sciences. The program will begin this Fall with applications due by August 15. (Via DesignTaxi)

I have heard it is ok. I think it depends on what you want to do. I think art direction or writing go to Miami Ad School or Brainco but more design The Portfolio School is probably a better choice. If distant isn't a probable I have heard of better choices out there.

I'm already a designer and I'm not really looking to further my education in design... would rather go for art direction.
Is there any good portfolio type schools in or around NE for art direction? I can't move to Miami, Minneapolis would be cool, but I would like to stay closer to NE.
What about UNL/UNK/UNO advertising dept? Do they offer any type of art direction courses?
Oh, what about the Academy of Art University? They offer online courses but the cost is crazy expensive!
Thanks again.

Brainco, Miami Ad School and the others are post-graduate programs. Are you an undergrad or do you already have a degree? I am sure you could find some art direction classes at some nearby colleges.

I have an AS degree in graphic art and design, been in the industry for about 3 years.
How about I email you some of samples? Maybe you can give me some advice on what direction I should go based on my work.
If anyone else wants to kick me in the face, let me know! I need a lot of advice in my college search.

I've always heard the best education is real life experience. It all depends on who ask, which is the best school to go for. Plenty of good design programs but if it is art direction in advertising I don't know where to point you locally.
